GRADUATE PROGRAM IN EDUCATION

The Graduate Program in Education (PPGE) of the education sector in the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), a free public institution located in the city of Curitiba, PR, Brazil, was created in 1974. It currently awards master’s and doctoral degrees, and post-doctoral internship jobs, with no cost for the in-person modality.
PPGE/UFPR is among the 4.7% of Graduate Programs considered to be of excellence in Brazil, according to the national agency responsible for the evaluation of Graduate Studies in the country – Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES/MEC).
The Master and Doctoral courses offered by PPGE/UFPR lead to the achievement of a Master and Doctor degree in education and personal qualification for the exercise of professional teaching and research activities. In addition, these courses aim to:

a)qualify researchers in the field of education;
b) qualify professionals to work in the educational field in educational institutions and systems, and in social, governmental, business and social movements;
c) produce and disseminate knowledge in the specific area of education;
d) to contribute to the deepening of the debate on national education, its pedagogical thinking and its practice, in different instances.

The PPGE is open to candidates for a master’s degree, who have completed a fulltime undergraduate course, in Brazil and/or abroad. In order to qualify, these courses must be duly recognized by the competent bodies. The same criteria applies to candidates to doctoral courses who have completed a master’s course and researchers who have completed their PhD, for post-doctoral internship jobs.
