As of 1999, with the expansion of the master’s course and the creation of the doctorate, the PPGQ/UFPR began to cover the four major areas of concentration in Chemistry, covered in the lines of research listed below. It should be noted that several of these lines are multidisciplinary and therefore involve researchers (faculty and students) from more than one area of ​​concentration of the Program.

CATALYSIS AND KINETICS

Development of catalytic systems and physical-chemical elucidation of processes using kinetic models.

PHYSICAL-CHEMISTRY OF MACROMOLECULES

Preparation of self-assembled systems from macromolecules and study of their interfacial interactions. Synthesis and characterization of electroactive and hybrid (nano)materials to obtain high performance devices such as sensors, biosensors, electrochromic and electrocatalytic electrodes. Rheological properties of polymers.

DEVELOPMENT OF ANALYTICAL METHODOLOGIES, SENSORS AND CHEMOMETRIC TOOLS

Determination of chemical species using instrumental analytical techniques, flow injection analysis and preconcentration processes. Development of electroanalytical sensors and use of chemometric tools for data analysis.
